The Clear Creek Whitewater park is a prime example of how our designs can impact an entire community. REP revitalized the Clear Creek by restoring and enhancing the natural riverbed. The course hosts large crowds for both international slalom races and pro kayaking events; when not in use for competition, it serves training athletes as well as recreational boaters, tubers, and waders. The project ties in with a river walk, a museum, and the downtown area. In addition, park construction facilitates late season, low water use. Long after other rivers on the Front Range fall below minimum flows, visitors are able to enjoy the Clear Creek Whitewater Park thanks to the deep low-flow channel that also provides year round habitat for numerous fish species.

 

In addition to the intangible benefits to the community, the Clear Creek Whitewater Park generates approximately $2 million of revenue per year for the town of Golden in spite of the fact that the park is free and open access.. This is a tremendous amount of revenue generated by a course that cost a mere $170,000 to build.
